Saluting Service and Sacrifice at Local Memorial Day Tributes

Sunday’s Maspeth Memorial Day parade featured sailors who were in town for Fleet Week (picture 1), flag-waving students, parents and faculty members of St. Adalbert School in Elmhurst (picture 3) and members of the Frank Kowalinski Post 4 in Maspeth, who rode in a float (picture 6). Local Scout troops were front and center at the Ridgewood-Glendale Memorial Day Parade along Myrtle Avenue, as members of Girl Scouts Troop 4007 (picture 2) and Boy Scouts Troop 327 (picture 7) took part in the festivities. Members of the Army, led by drummers, were also warmly received at the march (picture 8). Members of the St. Margaret Catholic War Veterans Post 1172 fire off a military salute at Middle Village Veterans Triangle during their memorial service on Monday morning (picture 4). Young Marines also took part in the Forest Hills Memorial Day Parade on Sunday afternoon (picture 5).
