Tried To Get Hookers On Ridgewood Border
Looking to pick up a cheap date proved to be a big mistake for 10 individuals who were collared by 104th Precinct officers in the latest undercover prostitution bust on the Brooklyn/ Queens border in Ridgewood last Friday night, May 18, it was reported.
The suspected “johns” were cuffed during the sting that took place after 8 p.m. last Friday in the vicinity of Starr Street between Cypress and Seneca avenues.
Under the direction of Capt. Michael Cody, 104th Precinct commanding officer, and Lt. James Lombardi, the precinct’s special operations coordinator, undercover officers reportedly posed as hookers looking to solicit potential clients on the street.
As previously reported, the area has been regarded as a haven for illegal sex sales in years past, and local civic groups have asked police on both sides of the border to crack down on the illicit activity.
The 10 individuals arrested in last Friday’s bust were each charged with misdemeanor counts of patronizing a prostitute, according to police. Law enforcement sources stated that some of the individuals lived in the area, while others were from other sections in Queens.
The investigation into prostitution in Ridgewood is ongoing. Police ask the public to call 911 if they suspect prostitution activities in their area.
