Local lawmakers and veterans came together at All Faiths Cemetery in Middle Village last Saturday, June 9 to remember the victims of the General Slocum, a civilian boat that went ablaze along the East River in 1904, killing over 1,100. In attendance were (left to right) State Sen. Joseph Addabbo; former State Sen. Serphin Maltese, members of the Coast Guard, Busso von Alvensleben of the German Consulate; Dan Austin Sr. of All Faiths Cemetery; members of the NYPD Bomb Squad; City Council Member Eric Ulrich; and Dan Austin Jr. of All Faiths Cemetery.
