Saturday Service On Independence Day
All MTA New York City Transit subways and buses and all MTA Bus Company buses will operate on a Saturday schedule on Independence Day, Wednesday, July 4. Riders are advised to plan their trips accordingly; for Saturday schedules, visit www.mta.info.
Extra LIRR Service For July 4 Getaway
The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) announced that it will operate nine additional eastbound trains from Penn Station on Tuesday afternoon, July 3, for those leaving early for the July 4 holiday.
The extra trains will depart between 2:08 p.m. and 3:48 p.m. on the Babylon, Far Rockaway, Port Jefferson and Port Washington branches. Trains to Montauk and Greenport will operate on a summer Friday schedule.
The additional service includes the following:
– a 1:43 p.m. train on the Main Line stopping at Jamaica;
– a 2:08 p.m. train on the Port Jefferson branch stopping at Jamaica, Mineola and Hicksville, then making all local stops to Huntington;
– a 3:40 p.m. train on the Port Washington branch stopping at Woodside and Flushing-Main Street, then making all local stops to Great Neck.
It was noted that the LIRR will op- erate on a holiday schedule on Wednesday, July 4.
M Train Shuttle Is Closed This Weekend
Weekend M train shuttle service between Metropolitan Avenue-Middle Village and Myrtle Avenue-Broadway will be suspended this weekend, from 4 a.m. Saturday, June 30, until 10 p.m. Sunday, July 1.
Free shuttle buses will provide alternate service and make all stops along the M shuttle line. Riders can transfer between the shuttle buses and the L train at Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues or the J train at Myrtle Avenue- Broadway.
The shuttle buses will stop at the M train stations as follows:
– Metropolitan Avenue-at the Q54 bus stop on Metropolitan Avenue at Rentar Plaza;
– Fresh Pond Road-at the B20 bus stop on Putnam Avenue at Fresh Pond Road (to Myrtle Avenue-Broadway) or the Q58 bus stop on Fresh Pond Road at Putnam Avenue (to Metropolitan Avenue);
– Forest Avenue-at the B20 bus stop on Putnam Avenue at Fairview Avenue (to Myrtle Avenue-Broadway) or the Q58 bus stop on Fairview Avenue at Putnam Avenue (to Metropolitan Avenue);
– Seneca Avenue-at B38 bus stops on Seneca Avenue at Palmetto Street;
– Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues-at the B13 bus stop on Gates Avenue at Wyckoff Avenue (to Myrtle Avenue- Broadway) or the Q58 bus stop on Palmetto Street at Myrtle Avenue (to Metropolitan Avenue);
– Knickerbocker Avenue-at B54 bus stops on Myrtle Avenue at Knickerbocker Avenue;
– Central Avenue-on Myrtle Avenue at Cedar Street (to Myrtle Avenue Broadway) or the B54 bus stop on Myrtle Avenue at DeKalb Avenue (to Metropolitan Avenue); and
– Myrtle Avenue-Broadway-at the B46 bus stop on Broadway at Myrtle Avenue.
Subway Changes
The MTA has scheduled a number of service changes for several subway lines throughout the city due to construction work.
These service advisories are current as of Wednesday, June 27. Last minute changes to service and operating schedules may be made due to weather-related conditions or emergency repairs. Check www.mta.info for schedule changes.

More Disruptions Along The 7 Line
Flushing-bound 7 trains will skip the 33rd Street, 40th Street, 46th Street, 52nd Street and 69th Street stations on weekdays, Monday through Friday, from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. through Friday, Aug. 3. There will, however, be normal service on the 7 line Wednesday, July 4.
For service to these stations, take the 7 train to Woodside-61st Street or 74th Street, then transfer to a Manhattan bound 7 train. For service from these stations, take the 7 train to Woodside-61st Street or Queensboro Plaza, then transfer to a Flushingbound 7 train.
Additionally, Flushing-bound 7 trains will skip the 82nd Street, 90th Street, 103rd Street and 111th Street stations on Saturday, June 30, and Sunday, July 1, from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m.
For service to these stations, take the 7 train to Junction Boulevard or Mets-Willets Point, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound 7 train. For service from these stations, take the 7 train to Junction Boulevard or 74th Street, then transfer to a Flushing-bound 7 train.
Weekend Local Svc. Only On The E Train
E trains will operate local service in both directions between Roosevelt Avenue and Queens Plaza all day on Saturday and Sunday, June 30-July 1. This service change will also be in effect the following two weekends, July 7-8 and July 14-15.
These trains will stop at 65th Street, Northern Boulevard, 46th Street, Steinway Street and 36th Street. Riders are advised to allow for additional travel time.
Overnight Switch Of Lines For F Trains
F trains will operate local service in both directions between 21st Street-Queensbridge and Roosevelt Avenue overnights on Friday, June 29, and Tuesday, July 3, from 12:30 until 5 a.m.; and this weekend, from 12:01 a.m. Saturday, June 30, until 5 a.m. Monday, July 2. These trains will stop at 36th Street, Steinway Street, 46th Street, Northern Boulevard and 65th Street.
Riders are advised to allow for additional travel time.
Additionally, Jamaica-bound F trains will run on the M line between 47th-50th Streets and Roosevelt Avenue this weekend, from 10 p.m. Friday, June 22, until 5 a.m. Monday, June 25. These trains will not stop at the Roosevelt Island and 21st Street- Queensbridge stations.
For service to those stations, take the F train to Roosevelt Avenue, then transfer to a Manhattan-bound F train. For service from these stations, take the F train to 47th-50th Streets, then transfer to a Jamaica-bound F train.
Furthermore, Jamaica-bound F trains will operate express service between the Queens Plaza M train station and Roosevelt Avenue on Friday, June 22, from 10 p.m. until midnight.
