Cops ask public to help catch robber of bank

EAST ELMHURST — The Police Department was seeking the public’s help in locating a man in connection with a bank robbery at Sovereign Bank, at 75-15 31st Ave. in East Elmhurst.

According to cops, the suspect, a Hispanic man in his 30s, presented the teller with a note demanding money June 22.

The victim complied and the suspect, described as having a goatee, standing 6 feet tall and weighing 180 pounds, fled on foot with an unknown amount of money, cops said.
