Lettuce recalled for possible E. coli contamination

A voluntary recall of Romaine lettuce  has been issued for 19 states, including New York.

The affected product, Tanimura & Antle Field Fresh Wrapped Single Head Romaine, may have been contaminated with E. coli bacteria. No illnesses related to the product have been reported. The recall also affects Canada and Puerto Rico.

According to Tanimura & Antle, the lettuce is packed in a plastic bag with the UPC number 0-27918-20314-9 and may have a Best Buy date of “08 19 12.” It was available at retail locations Aug. 2 to Aug. 19, 2012.

Retailers and distributors can identify the recalled products by the traceability code label on the exterior of the case (5417802151).
