Queens College received a $1.3 million grant to train area science teachers in hopes of promoting better learning for elementary school students.
The head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration visited the school Tuesday morning to recognize the school and its participation in the GLOBE-NY Metro partnership.
That partnership is a global initiative to try and foster more scientific understanding in students from kindergarten to high school seniors.
Queens College was one of only eight recipients of the grant across the country, and received the largest chunk out of any other institution.
