Wunderbar Time for All at Steuben Day Parade

Manhattan March Saturday Morning

German-American pride will fill the streets of Manhattan this Saturday, Sept. 15, during the annual Steuben Day Parade along Fifth Avenue.

As announced, the festivities will begin at 11:30 a.m. along Fifth Avenue between 70th and 86th streets. Over 100,000 people are expected to line the parade route, and those who can’t get to the march in person can watch it live on WNET Channel 13 beginning at noon.

First held in 1957, the Steuben Parade honors German-American culture and has become one of the largest celebrations of German culture in the United States. The march coincides with the celebration of Von Steuben Day on Sept. 17, which honors Baron Friedrich von Steuben, a Prussian general who assisted the Continental Army during the American revolution.

This year’s parade will be led by two grand marshals: daredevil Nik Wallenda and figure skater Norbert Schramm.
