Boys & Girls Shoot for Top Prize at St. Pancras Basketball Tourney

Basketball madness was in the air in Glendale on Sunday, Jan. 20, as youngsters competed in a pee-wee basketball tournament sponsored by St. Pancras School and the Kiwanis Club of Glendale. As shown, Holy Child Jesus School of Richmond Hill defeated St. Margaret School of Middle Village in the girls’ finals, while St. Stanislaus School of Maspeth bested the home team St. Pancras in the boys’ championship. Holy Child Jesus’ girls team is pictured at bottom left hoisting their trophies along with Coaches Terry Flanagan and Sean Rooney, St. Pancras Tournament Director Kevin Dumbach and Glendale Kiwanis President Len Licata. Dumbach and Licata, along with Kiwanis West Lt. Gov. Joe Aiello, presented championship trophies at bottom right to the St. Stanislaus boys, coached by Phil Favate and Bill Gummone.
