Fire Hits High-rise In Corona

No injuries were reported after a fire broke out inside an apartment in the Lefrak City high-rise complex in Corona on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30, 2012, it was reported. According to Fire Department sources, the fire started at around 3:40 p.m. inside a second-floor unit at an 18-story building in the vicinity of 98th Street and 57th Avenue. Responding to the scene (in the order of their arrival) were members of Engine companies 324, 289, 287 and 316; Ladder companies 138, 136 and 154; Squad Co. 288; Rescue 4 and Battalions 46 and 52-under the direction of Division 14-along with the 110th Precinct and EMS units. Two hose lines were used by firefighters to extinguish the blaze, it was noted.
