Young Designers Make It Work at Fashion Show

Local teenagers played models and fashion designers and competed for bragging rights during a “Project Runway” program held at the Pomonok branch of the Queens Borough Public Library in Flushing last Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012. Replicating the Lifetime reality television show of the same name, the competition allowed young girls to design and have modeled clothing and accessories. Their entries were judged by a panel of experts, and prizes were awarded to the top participants. The top prize went to Alyssa Sadofsky, 16, who won a $100 gift certificiate. She and her model, Corine Houngninou, 10, were also given tickets to attend the Project Runway season 11 finale. Runners-up Katelyn Dougherty and Victoria Woelfle received the Project Runway DVD game. Gift bags were also provided to the audience courtesy of Loreal-Paris and Elmhurst Hospital Center.
