Sunnyside Kids Help Sandy Hook Victim’s Family

Thousands of people laced up their walking shoes in order to raise funds to help patients fight breast cancer during the “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park on Sunday morning

Children of all ages were entertained at a fund-raiser at Sunnyside Community Services last Saturday, Feb. 23, benefiting the family of a victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre in Newtown, Conn. last December. As noted, the benefit supports the family of Benjamin Wheeler, formerly of Sunnyside, who was among the 20 students killed in the mass shooting. The family-oriented festivities included food, face painting and children’s music.
