Support ‘no Kill’ Pet Shelters by Adopting

Dear Editor:

With regard to dog and cat adoption fees charged: Many of these organizations that charge fees for adoptions are “No Kill” groups. One of these, Bobbi and the Strays, does not euthanize discarded, stray, sick or abused animals. All of the animals- some so badly abused and near death-get the necessary care and shots and are neutered prior to adoption.

Also, due to their “No Kill” policy they have many animals to care for until they are adopted. Before they are adopted, the prospective homes and individuals are visited to make sure they are suitable, also after visits are made.

These non-for-profit “No Kill” groups should receive federal, state and city funding for their good work with these vulnerable animals. Because of the lack of funding, they operate on very small budgets.

So please adopt one of these rescued animals and please pay the fee requested willingly so that these dedicated organizations can continue their labor of love.
