Glendale’s Atlas Park Gets Makeover

Crews have begun renovating the center greenspace at The Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale, it was announced. According to a statement on Atlas Park’s website, the renovations include a new 10,000 sq. ft. event and entertainment space to host community festivals and outdoor concerts. Up to 100 parking spots located closer to the retail buildings will also be provided. The new center green will also feature movable glass kiosks for retail concessions. In order to accomplish this, Community Board 5 Chairperson Vincent Arcuri told the Times Newsweekly, a number of trees in the once-elliptical park and the center fountain are being removed. Macerich, the owners of Atlas Park, expects the work to be completed on or about June 30. All stores at Atlas Park, including a restaurant located within the center green, remain open during construction.
