Students at P.S./I.S. 87 in Middle Village celebrated songs of the Great White Way with their performance of “Surf’s Up Broadway” last Tuesday, Mar. 19, before an audience that included parents, teachers and City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley. As noted, the performers participated in a program managed by Inside Broadway, a children’s theater company that teachers dance, drama and music and is part of the City Council’s Cultural After School Adventure Inititative (CASA). Crowley, who is pictured with the students, provided $20,000 to hold CASA programs at P.S./I.S. 87 as well as P.S./I.S. 113 and Sacred Heart School in Glendale; P.S. 97 in Woodhaven and P.S. 153 in Maspeth.
