Good Kicks In League Play

After having no competition in the U8A division, the BWG U8 Blue team was moved up to the U9A division. The game against the NY Stars Galaxy had an early start at Randall’s Island on Apr. 13. The boys played well, with a good performance by Damien John, who scored along with Nick Ulloa. The team lost 4-2.

BlauWeiss Gottschee scored several weekend wins in the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League. Teams from the Blau Weiss Gottschee (BWG) soccer club met the weekend of Apr. 13 and 14 for comeptitions in a variety of age brackets and divisions in the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League.

BWG Royals U8s had a good start, winning games against Chernomerets and Astoria Italia, but after missing many opportunities to tie the game, the team lost to Soccer ABC 5-4.

On the other hand, the BWG 02 White, which played against the NY Stars Premier, came back from a twopoint deficit at the half and tied the game with 2-2.

BWG 95 Blue kicked off its spring campaign in the league against South Bronx United 95 Blue Devils on a windy but sunny Sunday morning, Apr. 14. Although Gottschee had the upper hand in early play, the team gave up three goals in the first half.

Gottschee played much better in the second half and a cross from Ian Ryding set up Carlos Rebelo to head the ball into the back of the net. With the margin cut to 3-1, Gottschee looked to be getting back into the game. However, South Bronx scored an insurance goal to finish the day with a 4-1 win.

The 2001 BWG Pre-Academy team had a dominant performance this weekend, soundly defeating Met Oval 6-0. The boys controlled the game throughout and quickly pulled away with three goals in the first 15 minutes. Jonathan Ford led the way with three goals, Veljko Petkovic added two and Matthew Rubinstein scored one and assited two. Jeremy Saravia added two assists and controlled the midfield. The team played suffocating defense, letting up only a few shots on goal.

The BWG 00 White team continued its undefeated season in league play with an 8-4 win over DUSC Palmeiros. The boys pulled away early to a 5-1 lead, but then, after letting DUSC back in to within 5-4, added 3 consecutive goals to seal it. Marko Mladenovic had a hat trick, with Enzo LaSala adding two and Sal D’Angelo, Mathew Osiecki and Justin Hermosa scoring the other goals for Gottschee.
