Medal-winning Ballroom Dancers at Woodside School

Fourth-graders at P.S. 229 in Woodside recently completed their participation in an in-school ballroom dancing program conducted in part with Dancing Collaborations. As noted, the participants learned various dances such as the waltz, rumba, meringue, swing, foxtrot and tango. Twelve students out of 200 students who auditioned were chosen to participate; teachers also held a number of fund-raising programs to defray the costs of the initaitve. The P.S. 229 ballroom dancers went on to the winter finals and eight teams participated in the semi-finals, earning gold medals. The school is scheduled to participate in the grand finale in June.
