Perpetrator Sought In Corona Attack
Police are asking the public’s help in finding a man who confronted a 41-year-old woman on a Corona street and raped her in a neighborhood cemetery at knifepoint early on Monday morning, Apr. 1, it was reported.
The NYPD released a sketch of the perpetrator (at right), who is described as a Hispanic male between 25 and 30 years of age, weighing between 150 and 176 lbs. with black spiked hair and brown eyes.
Law enforcement sources said the attack occurred at 4:45 a.m. on Monday in the vicinity of Corona Avenue and Broadway.
According to information obtained by police, the 41-year-old woman was walking through the area when she was approached by the attacker, who displayed a knife and threatened to stab her.
Reportedly, the man forced the victim to enter the nearby cemetery adjacent to St. James Episcopal Church, where he raped her. Following the attack, police noted, he fled from the scene in an unknown direction.
The victim was later transported to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where she was treated and released. The rape was reported to the 110th Precinct.
The case is being investigated by the NYPD Queens Special Victims Squad and the 110th Precinct Detective Squad, police said.
