Special Day for Sunnyside Volunteers

Several volunteers at Sunnyside Community Services (SCS) were honored last Wednesday, Apr. 17, for providing a combined total of over 50,000 hours of service to enrich the lives of hundreds of area residents. The ceremony took place during SCS’ annual volunteer recognition celebration in Sunnyside, attended by 120 residents and City Council Member Jimmy Van Bramer and City Council Speaker Christine Quinn. During the event, Van Bramer also recognized Democratic District Leader Rita Manton for her decades of community service and activism. Joining Van Bramer in the photo are SCS Executive Director Judy Zangwell, Manton and volunteers Irene Gaddi-Pusung, Mary Healy, Maria Paralta, Carolyn Stone and Christine Walsh. Quinn is not pictured.
