By Tatiana Castellanos

Every year, on the second Sunday in May, mothers around the country are appreciated with flowers, chocolates, gifts and kisses.

In addition, several venues in Queens have set up special events for moms.

Queens Botanical Garden is holding a plant sale through Sunday so children can give the gift of flora for the windowsill.

The gardens is a good spot to bring mothers for a weekend picnic.

Visitors can pack a picnic basket and spend the afternoon admiring the greenery and budding blooms from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday or Sunday.

A $40 pre-Mother’s Day cruise is also scheduled for Saturday at 6:15 p.m. Board the Paddle Wheel Queen at 1 World’s Fair Marina in Flushing for a buffet, live D.J. and two floors of dancing. This event is for those 21 years old and above and tickets are available at nightcruise-zvents.eventbrite.com.

For mothers who don’t swoon at the idea of bouquets, there is always the gift of relaxation. Vitality Yoga and Tai Chi, a yoga studio at 41-25 Bell Blvd. in Bayside, is offering a Mother’s Day special.

A 10-class card is on sale for $140 or a 20-class card for $250. The offer ends Sunday. For more information, call 718-225-8800.

Whether or not children opt to treat their mothers to a picnic, cruise or Tai Chi, they can always make a mom feel special by letting her know she is loved.
