Pineblast Derby Day In South Ozone Park

While the first Saturday in May is known for the running of the Kentucky Derby, Boy Scouts from southern Queens enjoyed their own day at the races on May 4 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School in South Ozone Park with the Tomahawk District’s “Pineblast Derby.” Featuring troops from Woodhaven, Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Richmond Hill and surrounding communities, youngsters raced their homemade cars along a wooden track for trophies and medals. Shown with members of Boy Scout Troops 31, 105, 139 and 354 and Cub Scout Packs 31, 105, 139 and 237 were Jon-Paul Rasinya, district chairman, and District Leaders Lisa Forgione, Kim Skubliskas and Tom Scorcia.
