Police hunting for Maspeth bank robbery suspect

MASPETH — The police were asking the community to help identify and locate a suspect wanted in connection with the robbery of an Amalgamated Bank earlier this month.

The suspect entered the bank, at 69-73 Grand Ave., around 12:15 p.m. May 4 and demanded the teller put an unknown amount of money in a plastic bag before taking off on foot, heading northbound on 69th Lane, police said.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male in his 40s, standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall with scruffy facial hair and weighing around 250 pounds.

He was seen wearing sunglasses, a black jacket, black pants, a baseball hat and latex gloves.
