Happy Mother’s Day

In 1868 Ann Jarvis created a committee to establish a “Mother’s Friendship Day” to reunite families that had been divided during the Civil War.

On May 9, 1914, President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation, declaring the first national Mother’s Day as a day for American citizens to display the flag in honor of those mothers whose sons had died in war.

The highest officially recorded number of children born to one mother is 69. Between 1725 and 1765, Mrs. Vassilyev of Shuya, Russia gave birth to four sets of quadruplets, seven sets of triplets and sixteen pairs of twins!
