EAST ELMHURST — LaGuardia Airport was shut down Monday evening after the front landing gear of a Southwest Airlines flight collapsed after touching down, the Breaking News Network reported.

The nose wheel of the aircraft crumpled under the fuselage after landing shortly before 6 p.m., BNN said. Several injuries were initially reported, but all passengers and crew were accounted for, according to the network.

The Port Authority Police Department shut down the airport in response, according to the network, snarling air traffic and backing up flight schedules.
