Brooklynite charged in western Queens break-ins: DA

FOREST HILLS — A Brooklyn man has been charged with breaking into 11 homes in Queens and stealing thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, cameras, computer equipment, sports memorabilia and ammunition, said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown.

Mario Girau, 28, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a weapon, according to the district attorney’s office.

One break-in occurred in September 2011 and the rest in September 2013, the DA said.

Girau allegedly targeted homes in South Ozone Park, Ozone Park, Forest Hills, Howard Beach and Ridgewood, Brown said.

If he is convicted, he faces up to 150 years in prison, according to the district attorney’s office.
