While the emphasis today for our students is to be more technologically savvy, what is equally important is that cursive writing still needs to be taught in our schools.
It is important for students to not only use a computer keyboard but to also be able to write legibly and grammatically correct. There has not been nearly enough emphasis on writing skills in our schools. While it is easy to use a computer keyboard, it is not so easy to write in script or print.
Computers must never take the place of teacher instruction in our classrooms. While computers are and should be an integral part of classroom instruction, our teachers are the best form of educating our children, not computers. Teachers cannot and must not be replaced by technology.
