Gottschee’s Strong Showing At Adelphi Tourney
Four of the younger Blue Weiss Gottschee teams recently participated in the Adelphi University spring kick off tournament.
The tournament was organized by the Adelphi University soccer staff.
The U-8 Blue and U-9 Royals captured their division by winning all three games they played in the tournament. Both teams showed team work, effort on the field, and won close games against good competition.
The U-9 Royals won 2-0 against Garden City, 2-1 against N.Y. Hota Bavarian and 2-0 against Commack. For the 03 Royals it was their first day playing outdoors this season.
In the tournament they lost two close games and won one. According to coaches the boys performed very well, but were a bit unlucky in front of their own goal. Overall it was a good learning experience for the 03 Royal team.
The 03 White also played well, and they won all three of their games. The U-10 White team has improved with every game as they try to adjust back to playing outdoors.
At the end of the tournament, with some solid performances in the books, everybody left Adelphi University tired and excited that, as the weather warms, more outdoor games will be played.
