Teen Shot Standing on Bushwick Sneaker Line

Youth Charged With Firing Bullet

Hours after a teenager was shot and injured while trying to get on line near a Bushwick sneaker store last Saturday, Apr. 19, police took into custody a youth connected to the gunplay, law enforcement sources said.

The suspect’s identity-a 14- year-old male-was not disclosed by the NYPD due to his age.

Reportedly, the gunfire broke out at about 6:05 a.m. last Saturday on Knickerbocker Avenue near Stanhope Street.

According to published reports, the 15-year-old male victim got into a dispute with several other individuals after allegedly cutting a line of customers waiting for the nearby Foot Locker store to open. The queue was formed by customers looking to purchase Nike Air Foamposite Pro “Yeezy” sneakers, which cost about $250 a pair.

Seconds later, police said, several members of the group fired shots at the victim, one of which struck his left foot. The perpetrators reportedly fled from the scene in an unknown direction.

Members of the 83rd Precinct and EMS units responded to the shooting. The victim was brought to Kings County Hospital Center, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury.

Following an investigation, police tracked down the 14-year-old suspect last Saturday night and charged him with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The 83rd Precinct Detective Squad is continuing its investigation, police said.
