Women Honored at Luncheon

Borough President Melinda Katz received a women of distinction award from the Center for the Women of New York during the center’s luncheon in Douglaston on Saturday, April 26. The Center is a non-profit organization that has been advocating for women’s rights since 1987 and has been heavily involved in raising public awareness about domestic violence and human trafficking. Also receiving a Women of Distinction Award was Cheryl Wills of NY1 News at right, holding award. From left to right, Katz and Wills are pictured with Assemblymember Aravella Simotas, Rep. Joseph Crowley, entrepreneur Donald Gelestino, Center for the Women of New York founder and Chairperson Ann Jawin, Center President Susan Salzberg, Michelle Stoddart from Resorts World Casino and Alexandra Rosa, former chief of staff to former Borough President Helen Marshall.
