Firefighters had a busy July 4 weekend, with at least two fires sending Queens residents to the hospital.
The Fire Department said it was called to a blaze at 141 Beach 56th St. in Edgemore at 3:47 a.m. July 4. About 78 firefighters were dispatched to the 11-story building, where flames had broken out on the second floor, according to the FDNY.
Paramedics brought one person to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital and a second to Nassau County Medical Center with serious injuries, the FDNY said.
The department said the fire was under control at 4:12 a.m.
On Saturday morning, some 60 firefighters responded to flames at 105-11 134th St. in South Richmond Hill at 9:18 a.m., the FDNY said.
Emergency responders rushed one person to Jamaica Hospital with minor injuries, according to the department.
Several neighbors stood and watched FDNY personnel at work on the two-story house.
The FDNY said the fire was deemed under control by 9:51 a.m.
