Seek Driver Who Took Ridgewood Man’s Life

Police continue to search for the driver involved in a Maspeth hit-and-run accident on Monday morning, Aug. 18, that claimed a Ridgewood man’s life.

Karoll Grzegorczyk, 32, of Bleecker Street died after being struck by a dark-colored sedan while attempting to cross Fresh Pond Road between 60th Drive and Eliot Avenue at about 2:52 a.m. Monday.

According to information obtained by detectives, Grzegorczyk walked in between two parked vehicles and into the street when he was hit. The sedan was reportedly traveling southbound on Fresh Pond Road.

Despite hitting the man, authorities stated, the vehicle did not stop and sped away from the location.

Members of the 104th Precinct and EMS units responded to the scene and found Grzegorczyk unconscious in the middle of the street.

Paramedics rushed him to Elmhurst Hospital Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The case was presented to the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad, police said.
