FOREST HILLS — Police were investigating a collision in Forest Hills Friday morning that left a pedestrian dead, authorities said.

The NYPD said a Ford van was traveling west down 62nd Road just after 8:40 a.m. when the driver attempted to turn left onto 99th Street and hit a 79-year-old woman who was crossing 99th Street. The woman was taken to Elmhurst General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The NYPD said the driver remained on the scene and the crash was under investigation. The woman’s identity was being withheld until her family was notified.
