Firefighters worked quickly to douse a school bus that caught fire in Elmhurst last Thursday afternoon, Aug. 7. No passengers were on board the 10-seat vehicle when the blaze ignited at about 4:15 p.m. as it traveled southbound on Woodhaven Boulevard near Eliot Avenue. Sources said the driver pulled the bus over and called 911. Members of Engine Co. 324 and Ladder Co. 138, along with the 112th Precinct, responded to the scene. There were no reported injuries.
