Vendors are going to be taking over the sidewalks of several Jackson Heights streets on Sunday, June 14.

The Jackson Heights Plaza Owners Corporation will be hosting a flea market in front of the Jackson Heights Plaza building located at 34-58 90th Street.

The flea market will take place from 9 am -5 pm on the sidewalk of the building. It will be in from of the 90th Street building and snake around to 35th Ave, before wrapping around the corner to 89th Street, where the building ends.

Karina Garces, organizer of the flea, said if there are not enough vendors the flea market will only run along 90th Street and 35th Ave.

She expects 30 to 40 vendors to participate, selling items such as vintage jewelry, vintage clothes, home ware, and children’s clothing. There will not be any food vendors.

“There will be a lot of vintage items for sale,” Garces said.

The Jackson Heights Plaza Owners Corporation began hosting flea markets last year, and held its first of several planned for this year on May 31st. It will continue to host them throughout the summer, including two more times this month, on June 20th and June 28th.

“We always get a nice turnout of vendors and shoppers,” Garces said.

Garces said the flea market attracts a lot of local residents since the building is near major bus stops and train stations.

“We get a lot of folks heading to and from the subway,” she said. “There is always a ton of foot traffic and people stay and wonder around a bit as they pass by.”

The market also attracts the people living in the corporation’s building.

“The people in our building love to shop around as well,” she added.
