Two die in fire at Far Rockaway home: NYPD

By Madina Toure

Two people were killed in a fast-moving fire in Far Rockaway Sunday afternoon, the FDNY said.

The Fire Department received a call at about 1:06 p.m. about a fire at a home at 22-60 Cornaga Ave., according to an FDNY spokesman. The two individuals were found on the first floor of the home, the spokesman said.

The home was cluttered, making it hard for the firefighters to conduct their operation, he said. A police spokeswoman said the victims are possibly a man and a woman.

Seven firefighters were at the scene and had minor injuries, the spokesman said. They were sent to St. John’s Episcopal Hospital.
