Deadly shooting occurs outside Astoria hookah bar

By Bill Parry

A Brooklyn man was gunned down outside a Steinway Street hookah bar early Monday morning, police said.

Charles Williams, 26, began arguing with another man outside 25-86 Steinway St. near 28th Avenue around 4 a.m. when a second man reached into a white BMW to get a gun that he then fired at the victim before fleeing the scene in the vehicle, an NYPD spokesman said.

Police discovered Williams with gunshot wounds to the body and 10 shell casings were recovered at the scene, the spokesman said. Williams was taken to Mount Sinai Queens, where he was pronounced dead.

Williams was a resident of Van Siclen Avenue in East New York. It was not clear what started the dispute, police said.

There have been no arrests and the investigation continues.
