Assemblyman David Weprin (D-Fresh Meadows) kicked off a food drive last week at his district offices in Fresh Meadows and Richmond Hill.
The food drive, which started Jan. 8, is accepting a variety of nonperishable foods such as canned fruits, vegetables, beans, dry pasta and grains. Donations must be received by Feb. 18.
Individuals can give donations to Weprin’s district office at 185-06 Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows or his district office at 111-12 Atlantic Ave., #5 in Richmond Hill.
The donations will be given to River Fund New York, a community-based organization in Richmond Hill that works to fight hunger, homelessness and poverty in dozens of New York City communities through its Client Choice Food Pantry and Mobile Programs.
