Police are searching for a man who tried to lure an 8-year-old girl from a North Corona playground last week.

The man approached the 8-year-old inside the 34th Ave./Junction Blvd. playground last Monday while she was playing on the monkey bars, police said.  The suspect then called her over.

Police describe the suspect as a male in his 50’s.

Despite the park currently undergoing a revamp right now, the police confirmed the location.

A woman claiming to be the mother of the girl brought the incident to the public’s attention by posting about it on Jackson Heights Life, an online neighborhood forum. The police confirmed that the incident took place.

She claimed that the man said, “’Come here’” three times to her daughter. When the girl wouldn’t go, he slammed his hand down and shouted, “’Come’.” This account was not confirmed by police.

The girl then screamed for help and ran to her grandma, according to the website.

The mother claimed that the man is homeless, and frequents local parks, including Northern Playground (Northern Blvd between 903rd Street and 94th Street) and Playground Ninety (90th Street off of Northern Blvd).
