Two weeks ago the police announced that a Sunnyside baby girl was found dead in her parents’ apartment and declared it a homicide.

Since then, the police have not released any new information.

The NYPD and the Queens District Attorney’s Office both said today that they have no new updates on the case, despite almost two weeks of investigation.

Alaia Baque, a five-month-old infant, was found by police around 8 am on July 30th at 39-20 Greenpoint Avenue. She was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at Elmhurst Hospital.

Baque sustained at least eight skull fractures and a bruise on the back of her head.

Police questioned both of Baque’s parents, Jorge Baque and Yesenia Sasso, though no arrests have been made.

The parents claimed that Baque suffered the injuries during a ritual to rid her of the “evil eye,” though the true cause is still unknown.
