Drugs may have killed a young couple found dead inside their Jackson Heights apartment early on Monday morning, law enforcement sources said.

The 22-year-old man and 19-year-old woman, whom police said were boyfriend and girlfriend, were found unconscious and unresponsive inside the man’s home on 94th Street off 35th Avenue at about 4:45 a.m.

Officers from the 115th Precinct, upon receiving a 911 call, responded to the scene along with EMS units, which pronounced the man and woman dead at the scene. Their identities were withheld pending family notification.

Their bodies were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the actual cause of their deaths. It is suspected that they both overdosed on an unidentified drug, sources familiar with the case said.

Neither of them had obvious signs of trauma on their bodies, police noted.

An investigation is ongoing.
