The mobile library will make its final rounds in Hunters Point early next month.
The final day of mobile library service will be on November 12, before the bus-turned-library is decommissioned for good, according to Elisabeth de Bourbon, the Director of Communications for the Queens Library.
With the new library slated to open up next summer and the Court Square library at 25-01 Jackson Avenue extending its hours to include Saturdays, the Library decided to take the mobile library out of circulation.
De Bourbon added that another reason the library is taking the mobile library out of service is it expects to see a significant decline in use in the coming weeks due to the cold weather.
The new Hunters Point Community Library at 47-40 Center Boulevard was “topped out” last month, marking a completion of the steel framing and exterior.
