There’s no bones about it – the remains of two people who died nearly 90 years ago were taken out of a cemetery in Ozone Park on Halloween.
According to published reports, police say that human remains were stolen from Acacia Cemetery sometime after 4 p.m. on Monday night. The thief (or thieves) broke into a mausoleum and stole one full skeleton and the skull from another set of remains.
The remains have been identified as Lewis Hambro, born in 1865, and Marilan Hollan, born in 1900. Both people died in 1928.
Police believe that the grave robber(s) broke into the mausoleum through a previously broken window that had been boarded up. No arrests have been made and the remains are still missing.
