This suspect gives new meaning to the term “dirty old man.”

A 73-year-old Jamaica man was snared in an undercover sex sting last week for allegedly sending lewd text messages to a purported 13-year-old girl he met online, who turned out to be an undercover detective.

Joel Einhorn, 73, of Utopia Parkway in the Hillcrest section appeared in court last Thursday, Nov. 17, for arraignment on charges including attempted rape, attempted criminal sexual act, attempted dissemination of indecent material to minors and attempted child endangerment.

According to the charges, a detective with the New York State Police tasked with fighting computer crime posed as a 13-year-old girl in answering on Oct. 18 a personal ad posted on Craigslist. Einhorn allegedly responded to the ad, chatting with the undercover investigator online who had told the suspect that he was a 13-year-old girl living in Queens.

As the conversation continued, prosecutors said, Einhorn used x-rated language and expressed his desire to meet with the teenager for sex. They agreed to meet on Nov. 17 at an unidentified location; Einhorn, who arrived in a red 2015 Honda Civic, was taken into custody upon arrival.

Police also found in his vehicle an open black bag containing a variety of sexual paraphernalia, law enforcement sources said.

“This case illustrates the tenacity of alleged sexual predators and the amount of time they are willing to expend grooming a teen to accomplish their goal of meeting in person an underage child for sexual relations,” Queens District Attorney Richard A. Brown said in a statement.

According to court records, Einhorn was ordered held on $7,500 bail and is due back in court on Dec. 20. If convicted of the charges, he faces up to four years behind bars.
