Former “American Idol” contestant Pia Toscano stayed close to home as she walked down the aisle on Saturday.
According to Entertainment Tonight (ET), the Howard Beach native married dancer Jimmy R.O. Smith at the Angel Orensanz Center in Manhattan over the weekend.
“I’ve dreamed of this magical day since I was 4 years old, and I hoped to find my king,” Toscano said. “Today, all of my childhood dreams come true. I am marrying the absolute love of my life in front of my closest family and friends. I couldn’t be happier!”
Toscano wore a beautiful silk gown custom-designed by Michael Costello. Toscano confirmed with ET that no “American Idol” alumni were in attendance.
“As we decided to have the wedding in New York, it was a bit out of the way for everyone,” Toscano said.
Toscano participated in the 10th season of “American Idol,” finishing in ninth place. Her elimination shocked “American Idol” judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, as well as the audience. She has since had a successful career as a solo artist and as a back-up singer for Lopez.
