Winnie the Pooh — This sweet-as-honey adaptation of A.A. Milne’s timeless children’s book about Christopher Robin and his beloved stuffed animals was made in the classic Disney tradition of hand-drawn animation.

Kundun — Musical in structure, and supported by a vibrant score by Philip Glass that reverberates with low Tibetan horns, this dreamlike, sensual study of the early life of the Dalai Lama takes place, far from director Martin Scorsese’s typical urban milieu. Lush gold and maroon hues fill the screen, in beautiful images captured by cinematographer Roger Deakins.

Jacqueline (Argentine) — A filmmaker receives a series of panicked emails and phone calls from a young French woman—Jacqueline Dumont. She implores him to travel to Argentina to document her self-imposed political exile after she supposedly leaks highly confidential government secrets detailing a planned assassination.

The Last Temptation of Christ — Scorsese’s humanistic portrayal of Jesus Christ, based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis, was a labor of love that was delayed when Paramount stopped pre-production and was protested by religious groups when the film was finally completed. Willem Dafoe convincingly portrays Jesus as a mortal undergoing an astonishing transformation, and Peter Gabriel’s score beautifully integrates ambient electronic tones with global music instrumentalism.

The Moth StorySLAM: Fame — Open to anyone with a true story to share on the night’s posted theme, “fame.” When the doors open, storyteller hopefuls put their names in the Moth Hat. Names are picked and storytellers take the stage. Ten featured stories are scored by teams of judges selected from the audience who pick the winner.

Monthly Jazz Jam — Held on the first Wednesday of every month. Jazz Jams are a fun way to hone your skills and jam with your peers. The house band is led by saxophonist Carol Sudhalter. All are welcome regardless of instrument. Don’t play? Come listen.

Cumbia River Band — Cumbia River Band is Martin Vejarano’s brand new project draws from a festive repertoire of Colombian Cumbia standards. These all time favorite Cumbia hits will take you back to the golden years of the genre as well as inspire you to dance and contemplate the joy and energy that this Cumbia River brings along. Featuring tuba, accordion, clarinet, percussion and voice, the band delivers a captivating sound.

Greg Diamond and Nuance — Critically acclaimed Brooklyn-based guitarist, composer, and bandleader Greg Diamond creates music inspired by Latin American sounds and rhythms which he seamlessly infuses into the context of modern New York-style jazz — with modal harmonies, odd meters, and various other elements that comprise the city’s vibrant and dynamic musical tapestry.

Tween/Teen Yoga — Certified yoga instructor Grace Magee will lead your tween or teen out of their busy schedules into a place of serenity and strength. Students of all levels will enjoy this class, which mixes traditional poses with parter work, breath/body awareness and stength builders. Participants are asked to bring a towel and water. Mats will be provided. Limited to eight participants ages 8-14.

Sascha Braunig: Shivers — With more than 20 works made over the last five years, Shivers showcases Braunig’s unique approach to the studio portrait. Beginning with meticulously rendered paintings of fantastical sculptural constructions, the artist has deployed a range of pictorial techniques to depict bodies under duress.

When: Runs until March 5, 2017. The museum is open Thursday through Monday from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: MoMA PS1, 22-25 Jackson Ave., Long Island City

Cost: Museum admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students and senior citizens, free children under 15 free. Also, until Oct. 15, 2017, all residents of New York’s five boroughs receive free entrance to all exhibitions during regular museum hours; excluding concerts, fund-raisers, and ticketed events

NYRR Open Run: Astoria Park — Open Run is a community-based, volunteer-led running initiative bringing free weekly runs and walks to local neighborhood parks. The finish line is open until the last person is done. The courses vary based on the park, but average between 2.5 and 3 miles long. Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the run and to leave their valuables at home – bag check is not provided. Open to all ages, experience levels, walkers, strollers, dogs: All are welcome.
