The Bruson Building in Jackson Heights is ready to open after receiving its certificate of occupancy from the City last week.

The building, located at 74-09 37th Ave., was decimated by fire in 2014 after an overloaded power strip set the four-story building alight.  The owners have rebuilt it to the exact same size.

The work to rebuild the 60,000 square foot structure took significantly longer than expected. Craig Bruno of Bruno Family Trust, which owns the building, said he expected to complete it in 18 months.

While most of the building’s former tenants have permanently relocated, Habib Bank, which took up temporary space nearby, will return in three months.

The company is in the process of leasing space.
