Over 2,500 Queens children and their families were given the opportunity to learn about live music as they were given free tickets to attend a concert featuring the incomparable orchestra, The New York Pops, at Forest Hills Stadium on Thursday, June 8.
Through the New York Pops’ “Kids in the Balcony” program, the children got to hear the orchestra play the music from one of film’s greatest composers, John Williams. Williams is famous for composing the music of some of Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters including “Star Wars,” “Jurassic Park,” “Indiana Jones,” and more.

These new discoveries are what make kids thrive. We’re grateful to AT&T for helping ensure a brighter future for New York City’s youth.”
Joining The New York Pops were members of the 501st Legion: Empire City Garrison, a worldwide “Star Wars” costuming organization made up of devout fans of the franchise, who dressed up in costumes from the films.
The concert was supported in part by Morgan Stanley, AT&T and Wigdor LLP, with additional support from the City of New York and the New York City Council.
