Former state Assemblyman Phil Goldfeder (D-Ozone Park) has gone back to the private sector after opting-out of re-election in 2016 and will be working with Cross River Bank in New Jersey as a liaision between the company and government agencies.

Goldfeder’s seat is now occupied by Assemblywoman Stacy Pheffer Amato (D-Rockaway Beach), who was elected after he decided to focus on family following the birth of a child and eventually crossed over into the role of vice president of government affairs for Cross River, a chartered commercial bank in Teaneck, N.J.

This is not Goldfeder’s first time working for Cross River, according to CEO Gilles Gade, who said he helped out as a consultant in 2015.

“We are thrilled to welcome Phil back to the Cross River family, where his passion for service, ability to bring people together and effect positive change within the industry will make him an invaluable addition to our senior management team,” Gade said. “As our company continues to evolve, Phil’s deep knowledge of government affairs and adroit understanding of the regulatory landscape will enable Cross River to stay ahead of the rapidly moving regulatory environment and establish ourselves as a standard-bearer for compliance and consumer protection.”

Goldfeder was elected to the state Assembly in 2011 just prior to the devastation of Superstorm Sandy and was at the forefront of the recovery effort as well as pushing for legislation pertaining to banking, insurance and tax issues. Prior to that he worked with the office of U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY) as director of intergovernmental affairs primarily focused on financial institutions.
