New York Mets fans can head to Flushing next month to donate to a good cause and secure a pair of free tickets to a future home game.
On Nov. 2, fans who stop by the New York Mets Team Store at Citi Field between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. with at least 10 non-perishable canned or packaged goods will receive a voucher redeemable for two tickets to select Mets home games in April or May 2018. Fans will be limited to one ticket voucher.
Suggested food items include powdered, evaporated or boxed milk, rice, Ramen noodles, pasta, canned fruit and veggies, mac ‘n’ cheese, tuna, oatmeal, powdered mashed potatoes and boxed grits and cereal.
No glass containers or perishable food will be accepted.
The event is presented by Hain Celestial and benefits River Fund NY, a hunger-relief organization based in Richmond Hill that fights hunger, homelessness and poverty in city neighborhoods.
Citi Field is located at 123-01 Roosevelt Ave. Free parking will be available in Lot G at the stadium.
