A Jamaica man died of his injuries on Wednesday after he crashed his bike into a tractor trailer in Manhattan earlier this month, law enforcement sources said.

According to police, at 10:16 p.m. on Oct. 10, police responded to a report of vehicle collision at Amsterdam Avenue and West 72nd Street. Upon their arrival, they found 24-year-old Abu Sufian Molliek Rifat, of 85th Avenue in Jamaica, with trauma to his body.

An investigation by the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad found that Molliek Rifat was riding his bicycle northbound on Amsterdam Avenue when he struck the side of a tractor trailer, which was also headed north on the same road, and fell to the ground. The driver of the tractor trailer remained at the scene following the collision.

EMS responded to the scene and transported Molliek Rifat to Saint Luke’s Medical Center, where he died of his injuries on Oct. 18.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
